Thierry Fanfant to present his album “6.4” in Guadeloupe, his native island

The concert will take place at the Casino du Gosier on October 03.

On Friday, September 20 at 8:00 pm in the Paris’ 5^th district, Thierry Fanfant will play his Caribbean jazz on the barge “Le son de la terre”, accompanied by three other musicians: Laurent Succab (ka drum), Andy Bérald (ka drum, drums) and Daniel Gassin (piano).

On Thursday October 03 at 8:00 pm, the stage of the Casino du Gosier in Guadeloupe will host the talented bassist for the presentation of his 5^th album entitled “6.4”. Kariculture had the opportunity to introduce you to this opus, released on June 21, the day of the Fête de la Musique. “‘6.4’ is not just an album, it’s an immersive experience” (…) “an emotional and melodic journey”, as we read in his press kit.

“6.4” was recorded with a host of renowned artists from Guadeloupe and Martinique, including Arnaud Dolmen, Mino Cinelu, Dédé Saint-Prix, Jean-Philippe Fanfant, Mario Canonge, Yoann Danier and Jean-Philippe Grivalliers. The music Thierry Fanfant offers on this album is a fusion of jazz, funk, local rhythms (particularly those of the ka drum, an instrument and music created by slaves) and world music. It must be said that the artist has very eclectic musical tastes, even if he considers himself a jazzman.

In an interview conducted on March 22 by his label Couleurs Music Publishing, Thierry Fanfant said: “Creole jazz is constantly evolving, it follows the same trends as standard jazz. With its modernism, with its return to slightly older fundamentals, but it evolves exactly the same way. With, of course, the addition of Creole identity”. The artist, who has accompanied many Caribbean, French, African and American stars around the world, also spoke about the lack of visibility suffered by the music industry in the French West Indies: “(…) in concert, people always appreciate whatever the origin and the country where we play live, people always appreciate what we do. It’s harder for us to get into festivals, radio and TV”.

This concert in Guadeloupe is certainly a necessary step to recharge his batteries and set out again to conquer the world. No doubt that Thierry Fanfant’s family will be in attendance, in addition to his fans. The Fanfants have been musicians for six generations, and the artist’s parents once had an orchestra…
