Amelia Duarte de la Rosa is a Cuban journalist, graduated from the Faculty of Comunication in the University of Havana (2008). She’s got a Master in Theoretical Studies of Dance, Faculty of Arts and she is graduated from Dance (danzario) at the Cuban University of Arts (2016).
Since obtaining her degrees, she worked as a newspaper reporter for the Culture section of the newspaper Granma, where she majored in performing arts, theater critic, dance as well as in various aspects of community culture and art education.
She was the correspondent of the Cuban newspaper in Haiti after the earthquake in Port-au-Prince in 2010 and the cholera epidemic.
Lover of Caribbean arts and culture, she participated in several theater festivals, Caribbean culture festivals (Carifesta) and book fairs both in Cuba and Haiti and Surinam. Her articles have been published in national and foreign newspapers and on various websites specialized in film and theater.
She wrote several essays and the book, Haití, Despertar de la Muerte (Editora Política, 2016). In 2015, one of her essays was part of the anthology Anatomía de una Isla, a compilation of young Cuban essayists published by La Luz (Holguín, Cuba).
Now, she is the editor of the culture column of the newspaper Granma. She is a member of the Union of Cuban Journalists, she is part of the Cuban Centre ASSITEJ (Asociación Internacional de Teatro para
Niños y Jóvenes ) and she also is Advisor to the Teatro nacional de Guiñol.
