The Cook Association of Guadeloupe has celebrated its 103 years of existence

In August, two great events, one is dedicated to sport, the other to culture – the International cycling Tour of Guadeloupe and the Cook Festival – gather the masses.

Fête des Cuisinières 2019-1

This Saturday, August 10, the Association des Cuisinières de Guadeloupe (Cook Association of Guadeloupe), chaired since last year by a man – singer and dancer Rony Théophile – celebrated St Laurent who is its patron saint and its 103 years of existence.

The procession arrived at Saint Peter and Saint Paul’s Church before 10:00 am for the celebration of the mass. As every year, these ladies wore their beautiful Creole dresses with their essential embroidered aprons and their full baskets as well as their nice Creole jewels ; the men who are not many were also very elegant in their blue suits ; as for the children who represent the future, they had been dressed nicely.

Political and cultural figures, Miss Guadeloupe for Miss France 2019 and her first Runner-up, the candidates at the next Mister Guadeloupe 2019 contest and cooking students were among the guests of the association, in addition, all people who like the cultural heritage of Guadeloupe and always participate in this event were not forgotten.

Almost two hours later, all these beautiful people left the church to parade through the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre. But before, the Cooks gave the crowd made up of Guadeloupeans and tourists small traditional cakes which had been blessed by the priest during the religious ceremony. As last year, the procession stopped on the ground floor of the René Nithila Centre to dance gwoka then it went to Paul Chonchon gymnasium where had been organized the Cooks’ banquet.
