You like art, culture, Art Day is an event you must attend. It will take place on Saturday, March 11 from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm at the Art Ruche gallery-cafeteria located in front of the Darse market, not far from the Place de la Victoire in Pointe-à-Pitre.
For this 2nd edition of Art Day, the association Frère Independent has invited several creators to show their talents to the numerous public. Among them, Gaël Maniglier who will lead a workshop of calabash lamp making between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The workshops organized by this art craftsman and specialized educator (autism specialist) are also intended to welcome people with disabilities. For 120 euros, you will learn how to make your own lamp and leave with it at home; in addition, a brunch will be offered.
Photographer Jean-Claude Resdedant, who has spent the last thirty years capturing the evolution of Guadeloupe, will propose a beautiful exhibition composed of a series of historical photos, in particular the moving of the tin huts on trucks during the construction of the first buildings in Lauricisque, Pointe-à-Pitre, the city where he was born…
Note that other works will be exhibited in the gallery during this special day including those by Thierry Alet, Francis Eck, Yagor and Steek.
At 4:00 pm, a public discussion on “Tradition: life, economy, real estate in the time of houses on trucks” will be lead by Jean-Claude Resdedant and Thierry Alet (artist, graduated from the Pratt Institute of New York and president of the Frère Independent association).
Between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, Brother Jimmy – former host of the B World Connection program dedicated to the black diaspora and member of the “Karukéra Sound System” collective – will provide musical entertainment for the artistic event.
From 7:30 p.m., designer Denis Devaed will offer a fashion show entitled “Flash Mode” where he will focus on creativity. Graduated in visual arts since 1984, the Guadeloupean has made discover his clothes and accessories in his island but also in Martinique, Jamaica, France, Germany, Senegal, the United States…
