According to the organizers of the carnival of the city of Santiago, the “merenguero” will parade on Sunday February 25 with the new Queen Isauly Méndez.
During a ceremony which took place in the amphitheater of the city hall of Santiago, Eddy Herrera was crowned as new King Lechón of the Carnival of Santiago 2018, a title that the “merenguero” welcomed with emotion and joy.
“For me, it is a pleasure and an honor to have been chosen as King Lechón of Santiago. Of course, I wish to express my infinite gratitude to the Cocasa carnival corporation, the city hall of Santiago and my friend Mayor Abel Martínez, thank you too for honoring me with this distinction, I am very happy and I am proud. To the architect Mauricio García, who was the King last year, thanks also for his love and for having put me the crown”, said the singer.
The official parade of the Santiago Carnival will take place on Sunday, February 25, where the newly elected King will parade with Queen Isauly Méndez who was also chosen at the ceremony and different celebrities of the city.
At the event held last Thursday, “Cocasa” and the city of Santiago dedicated the 2018 Carnival to the two most important clubs in the city, El Centro Español and El Country Club de Santiago.
The carnival of the “City Corazón” (Heart) is celebrated every Sunday of the month of February at 3:00 in the afternoon and on Sunday 25 it will be the official carnival parade.
