From June 16 to 21, 2025, France will be hosting “France Music Week”. This week-long international event has been launched by the French government and aims to “promote excellence in French artists and the French music sector”; it “will be a gathering place for the international music industry, a moment for reflection and a celebration of music in all its forms, highlighting its fundamental role within our societies”.
Calls for applications to take part in the various “France Music Week” projects have just opened. The Ministry of Culture has entrusted the overall coordination of the event to the Centre nationale de la Musique (CNM).
One of the highlights will be the “International Exchange Days” at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique in Paris on June 18 and 19. “For two days, the French music industry will have the opportunity to meet with an international delegation of qualified personalities, and to bring to light its artists for a worldwide development”.
To this end, the call for applications for showcases is open from March 24 to April 8, 2025 on the website of the Centre national de la musique, https://cnm.fr.
8 to 10 projects from a variety of musical aesthetics will be selected to be presented a 30-minute showcase in front of prominent figures from the international music industry.
Another highlight will be the co-creation residency on the theme of the French-speaking world (francophonie), to be held from June 13 to 18, 2025 at the Cité internationale de la langue française – Centre des monuments nationaux in Villers-Cotterêts. The musical genres accepted for this project are varied: song, pop, hip-hop, jazz, rap etc. The final performances will take place on June 17 and 18.
“France Music Week” is looking for 6 French artists (authors, songwriters, topliners, producers of popular music) to participate in a writing session, alongside 6 French-speaking artists, authors, songwriters from around the world. Applications are open until April 13, 2025 on the Centre national de la musique website, https://cnm.fr.
