It was also an opportunity to introduce Antle, the artist who performs this track with her and who is the man who makes her heart race, right now. “It’s a declaration of the unconditional love Antle and I share. The day after we met, the lyrics and melodies of this song came naturally to us”, she says.

The lucky guy is not newcomer to music. Originally from the town of Les Abymes in Guadeloupe, he is a songwriter and the founder of Pure Prod, a label that has enabled many young talents to rehearse and record their compositions in studio. Antle has also participated in several musical projects and audiovisual productions. However, the artist who comes from the underground scene admits to learning “a lot at every stage of this project” with Irie Keef and developing “new skills with pleasure”. “I’m discovering professional structures for artists, an organized circuit around promotion and digital distribution that I didn’t know about (…)”.

The lyrics of the song “Butterflies” are written in Creole, French and English; the music – a mix of soul and trap – is by Dagger Beats, a beatmaker from Santiago, Chile; the well-known Roger Béligny added some “local” notes on it with his magic harmonica. The track was recorded at the Henri Debs et Fils studio in Pointe-à-Pitre.

As for the video for the song, directed by Cédric Marcellin, it was shot at Bassin Kalinago in the town of Baillif, a way to pay tribute to the first peoples of Karukéra, the island’s Kalinago name. In addition, Irie Keef’s make-up was created by visual artist Thierry Lima. “It was fun and very pleasant to play our own roles. Love is all-powerful. The result is fair and beautiful, full of poetry”, says Antle.

In 2020, Guadeloupean artist began a solo singer career, after being a backup singer. Her first single, “Tan é Sézon”, was well received by the audience. The artist also released “Whispers of Wisdom” that same year. Three years later, she returned to the music scene with Loïc Emboulé for a duet entitled “Doudou”.

Irie Keef, who has been part of the Rastafari movement for several years, claims to be guided by Jah to sow Joy, Love and Harmony in this life: “It’s in me, wherever I am. I nourish my inner garden every day with beautiful thoughts, poetry and delightful melodies”.
