Last Saturday, Massiel Taveras was the official host of the 2023 African American Awards in Los Angeles. At the ceremony, held at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) theater, great figures from the world of training in Hollywood were honored, Taveras being the only Dominican to present the Golden Black Awards to date.
Female artists of great impact in the history of African-American cinema and music were honored at this ceremony, during which Massiel captivated the audience.
Dominican actress showed the audience samples of her great talent in each of her interventions, starting with a characterization tribute to the great Aretha Franklin, continuing with a powerful monologue of the great cinematographic work nominated for the Oscar for “Best Picture”, “The color purple”, starring Oprah Winfrey and another act paying tribute to Viola Davis, another of the most respected actresses in the world.
Massiel, showed a great performance on stage, closing the evening with an iconic tribute to one of the most important artists in the history of music, the unforgettable Tina Turner, entitled, “Tina forever”, in which Taveras appeared as the American on stage with an impressive freedom and energy.
Taveras excelled, this time on the most important stage of the great African American community in Hollywood. The Creole presented the award from beginning to end in the English language, this being the most important opportunity of her career to date.
