Breakout dancehall artist Pablo YG released his new project Rich N Richer EP on YGF Records via VPAL Music. The release is joined by a music video for the track, “Bad Slave”, directed by DaMANIAC VISUALZ.
Across 7 tracks, the 20-year-old artist refines his melodic, gritty approach to modern dancehall — a signature sound that gave way to his hit song “Rich N Richer” last year. Led by the singles “Rich N Richer”, “Radar,” and “States,” the new project includes four new tracks, with two featuring Valiant and Kranium, respectively. Young Generation Family (YGF), Popinz Records, 23 Recordz, and more, contributed production. Full EP track listing: Realest; Money (feat. Kranium); Bad Slave; Radar; Louis V (feat. Valiant); States; Rich N Richer.
On the release, Pablo YG shared, “In my mind, the work is just starting. The goal is always to stay true to our fans as we take the thing to an international level. We have to elevate. Every body of work has to be better than the last. We nah stop improve”.
The project arrives on the heels of what was a huge year for Pablo. He entered 2023 with a major buzz following his clash with Malie Donn at Reggae Sting, “the greatest one-night Reggae and Dancehall show on Earth.” He followed it up with a series of high-profile looks, including a feature in a campaign for a collaboration between footwear and fashion brands Clarks and Supreme.
He enjoyed a career boom with the release of the 14-track Bad Juvi Mixtape in July, which featured “Rich N Richer”, a song that went on to become one of the biggest dancehall hits of the year, clocking more than 4M streams and 11M views on YouTube so far. The song, along with others from the project, received placement on Dancehall Official and Tun Up, the premier dancehall playlists on Spotify and Apple Music, respectively. A live performance of the track on the US-based media platform 4 Shooters Only added fuel to the fire, and became the most-viewed video from the limited-run Jamaican series. Pablo YG now counts online personality and influencer Kai Cenat among his fans after the superstar praised his song during a livestream.
Following the EP’s release, Pablo YG will set off on an extensive tour of Canada, making stops in Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and more, from March through April. (VPAL Music)
