As part of the 40th anniversary of the transatlantic race La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, the stage at the Memorial ACTe host this Monday, November 12 at 7:30 pm, O’Tantik the band from Marie-Galante which was revealed at the Festival Terre de Blues that takes place every year on this island. Guadeloupe is an archipelago, all territories had to be represented through their artists during this international sporting event.
For one hour, the nine members of the band, one of them comes from Cuba, performed several Caribbean rhythms including our “national” zouk and kadans but also Haitian kompa etc. A tribute was paid to the late musician and singer Jeff Joseph from Dominica who liked to visit the island of Marie-Galante. A zouk version of the famous song “Despacito” by Puerto Rican Luis Fonsi was played by the musicians and sung in Spanish by the young Cuban member of the band, also a percussionist.
If the audience was rather timid when the concert started, maybe because of the showers, it quickly warmed up by dancing and singing.
