Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe: Soft did not disappoint its fans

Have we ever heard that “Soft” disappointed its fans during a concert? The answer is “no’. Once again, on Tuesday, November 13, at the end of this 90-minute concert, the many spectators seemed pleased with the performance of their favourite band on the Memorial ACTe stage in Pointe-à-Pitre, on the occasion of the finish of this 11th edition of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe.

On the evening of Sunday, November 11, while the first two sailors – Francis Joyon et François Gabart – had to sail round the buoy in Basse-Terre, “Soft” was performing on the second stage of this international sporting event, located on the esplanade of the port.

For this second concert, all members of the band were there i.e. Fred Deshayes (guitarist), Philip Sadikalay (saxophonist), Joël Larochelle (bass guitarist), Julie Aristide (violonist) with Joby Julienne and Valéry Antiope (percussionists) among others…

“Soft” played its more famous hits like “Krim’ kont la Gwadloup”, “Won, won, won” or “Mamie O” which are about, for example, the political and social situation of the island, love between a man and a woman, maternal love, old age etc.

If some spectators danced and sang, others prefered to listen carefully to every word and every sound, a particular way of appreciating good music.

In addition, the singer and flautist from“Maroon Awmoni”, the band that performed between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm, was invited to shared a song with “Soft” ; this young artist seemed very moved to have had this honour to play with well-known musicians. Indeed, “Soft” arrived on the music scène in 2005 and had an immediate hit, now it is among the best bands of Guadeloupe.
