On her return, she will continue working on her next project: her new merengue musical production.
Having established herself in her homeland as one of the leading saxophonists of her generation, Nayade Macea is now focusing on the internationalization of her project and preparing to take part in the Toli Jazz Festival in Colombia this September.
Nayade, also known as Najazz, who is currently part of the musical orchestra for the play “Matilda”, is one of the festival’s special guests and, during her performance, she will be accompanied by the Ibagué Big Band, one of most important Latin America’s jazz orchestras.
“I have more than 15 years of career and I am proud and honored to say that in that time, God has given me the opportunity to achieve some of my goals and to be part of the projects of the greatest artists in my country, and now I am more than ready to take the next step and take my art out of the island”, explained Macea.
Macea, who is also a lawyer and music teacher, is working on her merengue musical production.
Gilberto Santa Rosa, Luis Perico Ortiz, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, Pasión Vega, Arturo Sandoval, Paloma San Basilio, Luis Henrique, Johnny Ventura, Juan Luis Guerra, Milly Quezada, Eddy Herrera, Ilegales, Fernandito Villalona, Peña Suazo, Manny Cruz, among others, are just some of the artists and projects Nayade has worked on.
This young woman, born in San José de Ocoa, began her career at the age of 15, studying the saxophone and in just two years of constant practice, she entered the National Conservatory of Music, where she won first places in various competitions. She attended special programs at Berklee College of Music, obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Music at UNPHU and is currently preparing a Master’s degree in Music Education.
Nayade received the National Youth Leadership Award in the cultural field for her impact on Dominican music. She is an expert saxophonist in many genres, specializing in merengue.
