Like every year, at the same time, the Centre des Métiers d’Art in Pointe-à-Pitre organizes its annual exhibition. This artistic event, which has just ended, took place from May 31 to June 12 in the CMA premises. This year’s theme was “Tales of One Thousand and One Nights”.
The opening which took place on Friday, May 31 at 18:30 was an opportunity for the board of directors of the association which manages the Centre des Métiers d’Art, the management of the CMA, the trainers, the members many of whom are children, their parents and the audience who are art lovers to meet and appreciate the work produced during these last months. After the “Planète en Tête” theme that was related to environmental protection, this year the students worked on “Tales of One Thousand and One Nights”, these famous oriental tales that crossed the centuries. With a lot of imagination, creativity and talent, the student-artists made works related to these tales (including the portrait of the famous Scheherazade, the wife of Sultan Shahryar) that made everyone proud.
Several workshops took part in this large and beautiful exhibition which was open to the public free of charge every day from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 am : visual arts workshop by Michèle Chomereau-Lamotte ; 3 arts workshop (plastic art, pottery and paper mache) by Katia Gonzalez ; visual arts, comics, illustrations workshop by Thierry Bergame ; visual arts workshop, Léandre Sigiscar pottery; sewing workshop by Chantal Rousseau ; basketry workshop by Évanor Alcavelard ; floral design workshop by Joëlle Urie…
