Soca artist Tempa won big at inaugural Caribbean Music Awards in Brooklyn on Thursday, August 31, taking home the title of “Best New Soca Artist” following her meteoric rise through the genre. The Trinidad native thanked her fans for their continued support, which helped her break through with songs like the smash hit “By D Truck” featured on VP Records’ Soca Gold 2023 compilation.
“T-E-M-P-A in d soca”, she declares over the Trailer Jam Riddim on “By D Truck”, a track that took this Carnival season by storm and secured a remix with Patrice Roberts. This award just stood as another affirmation of the artist’s versatility, after she’s proven she’s able to leap from dancehall to soca with ease.
