After being cancelled several times in 2020 and 2021 and then moved to July 2022, Jamaica’s famous carnival – Bacchanal Jamaica – will be celebrated with pomp in Kingston in 2023, now the Covid 19 pandemic has “calmed down” throughout the world and in the Caribbean in particular.
Bacchanal Jamaica is back to its usual period in the calendar, the week after Easter. In December 2022, the organizing team – note that the Jamaican carnival is a private business – published the program of major events offered to revelers, which began in March 2023, as if to make up for lost time.
From April 12 to 16, 2023, thousands of revelers will participate in the various meetings planned, such as masked and unmasked parties, concerts and, above all, the big parade in the streets, the “Road March”, on Sunday, April 16. The public, composed of locals and tourists, will witness the great creativity of the designers who create the costumes every year.
But beware: to parade to the rhythms of dancehall, soca, calypso, zouk for example, it is absolutely necessary to wear an “official” outfit ordered and paid before. Complexed and prudish women, go your way, this event is not for you because the costumes of Bacchanal Jamaica reveal the body…
For this grand finale in Kingston, the temperature may soar, global warming may cause damage …
