This Sunday, February 6, 2022, in Jamaica and all over the world was celebrated the birthday of the King of Reggae, Robert Nesta Marley (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981). On this occasion, Kariculture presents the book byMartjin Huisman : The Reggae Nation: The Global Legacy of Bob Marley & The Wailers. The author invites readers to discover the world history of reggae through a travelogue from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the frozen heights of the Himalayas in Nepal, and numerous places in between on all continents.

The author of The Reggae Nation is Martijn Huisman. His 432-page book was illustrated by Maria Papaefstathiou, co-founder of the International Reggae Poster Contest. It features nearly 300 photos, many of which by renowned reggae and pop music photographers from around the world, including Lee Abel, Adrian Boot, Murray Cammick, Ueli Frey, Kim Gottlieb-Walker, Gijsbert Hanekroot, Marcello Mencarini, Ebet Roberts, Mitsuhiro Sugawara, and Rob Verhorst.
As for the the foreword, it was signed by Roger Steffens, reggae archivist and author of So Much Things to Say: The Oral History of Bob Marley. He wrote : “A travelogue of inspiring revelations, with eloquent descriptions of Marley’s globe-spanning inspiration. Huisman is an articulate guide as he spins the globe, bringing remote outposts and cultures into view where Marley’s works have taken hold”.
The Reggae Nation is published in a unique limited edition of 600 copies ; each copy is numbered and signed by the author. It is also possible to customize the book by ordering it directly from the author. The book is not intended to make money and profit. In fact, after paying the production costs, the proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to a charity, HELP Jamaica, which supports educational projects for disadvantaged children, youth and adults in Jamaica.
