Since last Friday, May 3, the streets in the city of Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) have been converted into large artists’ studios. Instead of presenting you the various works made on the occasion of this campaign called “Just Graff it” once finished, as if it was an exhibition of paintings, Kariculture.net chose to show you the graffiti artists when they are working, which illustrate better, for us, the title of this event : World Kréyol Art Festival.
When we published photos taken on Sunday, May 3, some artists were preparing the surfaces to paint, others were making their sketches, still others had already started to make their works. On Tuesday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8 in the afternoon, we returned to the various spots of the operation to see the progress of their work. If some frescoes on small areas were finished, others made on large areas or with details were being finished and sometimes the ladder was too short, they needed a gondola. So, during the Festival, the participants do not just sit around doing nothing : those who have finished small frescoes have already started others works in others places. We also met a street artist from France, he heard of the Festival and he came to participate…
The inhabitants are interested in this the artistic event which is dedicated to show the talent of all these street artists from Guadeloupe and elsewhere but to allow to make more attractive their living environment. Drivers and passers-by stop to take photos and talk with the artists. Those who are shy or impressed come to see and comment the works when the artists are not there…
