After the announcement of several dates, the 11th edition of the largest contemporary art fair in Guadeloupe will take place on 9, 10 and 11 October 2020, from noon to 8:00 pm at the Fleur d’Épée hotel in the town of Le Gosier.
Since our last article, there were changes. The 11th edition of the Pool Art Fair Guadeloupe will finally take place from 9 to 11 October. The opening will be on Thursday October 8 at 7.00 pm notably with the official speeches at 7.30 pm but, from the day before, art lovers and others will be able to go to the Arawak hotel in Le Gosier where the association Frère Independent which is on the initiative of the Pool Art Fair invites them (from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm) to welcome the exhibiting artists. Admission will be free, the atmosphere will be granted by a DJ session, there will be a cash bar. The evening dedicated to the performing arts – Corpus Christi – will take place on Saturday October 10 from 8:00 pm. Several free conferences are scheduled for Friday, October 9 from noon, but the themes are not yet known. On the same day, the Happy Friday evening will take place from 8.00 pm and the stylist Éliette Lesuperbe will show her latest creations to the public. Please note that there will be an entrance fee (50€).
Cameroon is no longer the guest of honour of the event. For the moment, 45 artists have registered to take part in this exhibition which will take place in rooms of the Fleur d’Epée hotel, 38 are Guadeloupeans or residents in Guadeloupe, the others come from Martinique, France and Canada. Among the Canadian artists, there will be the Spence Gallery of Toronto which will be present for the 3rd time at the Pool Art Fair in Guadeloupe. Its director, Ms. Spence, began her career as a private art dealer in Canada’s artistic capital. Then, she started to participate in international art fairs in New York, London and also Guadeloupe. She opened her first gallery in 2005 in Mirvish Village in Toronto. On the occasion of the 11th edition of the Pool Art Fair Guadeloupe, she will present three artists: Zoya Taylor, Marcello Suaznabar et Diana Rossa.
However, during this hurricane season and especially during the health crisis caused by Covid-19, all cultural events in the archipelago have to deal with a new guest: uncertainty.
