From February 21 to 24, 2022, Fondation Haïti Jazz via Zikonnect organizes a webinar entitled “Promoting and monetizing your music online” for 40 Haitian artists. The online application form must be filled out until Friday, February 11, 2022, noon. The names of the selected artists will be announced on February 15.
Fondation Haïti Jazz is known for organizing each year the famous Port-au-Prince Jazz Festival where the world stars of this music perform. This time, the FHJ has decided to launch a webinar to teach Haitian artists how to promote and sell their music, a very important step in this time of Covid-19 where culture slows down and creators need to earn a living from their works.
From February 21 to 24, 2022, this webinar will take place via Zikonnect, the space for training, meeting and exchange around specific themes between all actors of music and live performance industry, created this year by the Fondation Haïti Jazz ; virtual or hybrid sessions will connect all these actors while optimizing and enhancing their work.
Regarding the criteria for participation, candidates for this training “promoting and monetizing your music online” must be aged between 18 and 35 ; they must have released at least 3 musical productions that the organizers can access online, including non-paying platforms ; they must commit to being present during the 4 days of training from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm; finally, they must have an active presence on social networks. All this information must be included in the online application form that must be filled out and sent until Friday, February 11, 2022, noon. The organization warns that incomplete applications or those arriving after the deadline will be automatically rejected. In addition, female applicants are strongly encouraged and recipients must be present online during the entire webinar to receive a certificate of participation.
Regarding the selection of applicants, it will be announced on February 15, 2022. 40 candidates will be selected from the 10 departments of Haiti : 10 candidates residing in Port-au-Prince (face-to-face); 10 candidates residing in the provinces (face-to-face in Port-au-Prince, the stay will be paid for by the Fondation Haïti Jazz) ; 20 candidates residing in the provinces who will attend the online courses at the Alliance Française de Jacmel or from home.
