Glass sculptor Robert Manscour presents “Transmutation”

The exhibition entitled “Transmutation” by Martinican artist will be displayed from March 24 to April 13, 2025 at the Fondation Clément in the town of Le François.

“Robert Manscour draws inspiration from the ancestral practices of masters from Benin, Nigeria and Togo, who created objects with mystical powers: making it rain, promoting fertility, offering various forms of protection. He uses a variety of techniques such as thermoforming, engraving and enameling to infuse his works with a spiritual dimension. Armed with blacksmith’s tools, he sculpts glass with the precision of an alchemist, transforming raw material into objects of meaning and power”, so is presented the work of the 70-year-old sculptor, who has been handling glass with dexterity for some thirty years in his workshop in the town of La Trinité.

The artist will comment on “Transmutation” in the presence of the audience, on Sunday March 30 at 10:00 am. Visits to the exhibition are free of charge.
