Guadeloupe Carnival: a rhythmic and colorful Mardi Gras in Basse-Terre

1st PART

As usual, the “Giga Parade” of Basse-Terre has kept all its promises. Thousands of spectators (locals and tourists) and many groups on foot from the every corner of the archipelago gathered in the chief town to celebrate the life of Vaval, the king of carnival, and thank him for having given them so much joy during more than two months of festivities. This climax was placed under high police surveillance to avoid unfortunate incidents. More than ever, the Guadeloupe Carnival must be considered as the biggest event of our “Orange Economy”.
