In 1983, the Centre martiniquais d’animation culturelle (CMAC) launched Jazz à la Martinique. 24 years later, in 2007, this annual musical event became the Martinique Jazz Festival. Over the past four decades, many local artists and artists from all continents have performed on the festival stage, including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Mario Canonge, Mino Cinélu, André Condouant, Marius Cultier, Manu Dibango, Chucho Valdés, Fall Frett, Rhoda Scott, Michel Petrucciani, Eddie Palmieri, Marcus Miller, Tania Maria…
It should be noted that, on the occasion of this anniversary, the Martinique Jazz Festival has also changed its logo.
To celebrate this 40th edition, which will take place from November 23 to December 2, 2023 at the Tropiques Atrium Scène Nationale (Fort-de-France) and the CDST (Saint-Pierre), the organizers have invited several artists, including : Sixun, Laurent Maur feat. Mario Canonge, Damian Nueva, David Malters, Mohamed Najem, Rodolphe Lauretta, Wilfried Bédacier, Manou Gallo, Kélia Paulin, Hervé Martiny, Kareen Guiock-Thuram, Guy-Marc Vadeleux, Keziah Jones.
The jazz genre will be presented in several sub-genres, such as Caribbean jazz, Afro jazz, blue funk jazz, beatbox jazz, dancefloor jazz…
In addition to concerts, the festival will feature workshops, masterclasses, entertainment, film screenings and culinary specialities (Jazz’n Food).
